After a very scenic drive to Anglesey we aim to arrive at Plas Cadnant by about 11am when coffee, tea and cake will be served to us in the restaurant. They are opening early just for us. So no queuing!
Described as one of North Wales best kept secrets, the hidden world of Plas Cadnant Gardens, situated at the side of the Menai Strait, hidden from view near to Menai Bridge on the Isle of Anglesey, are award winning gardens and are described as one of North Wales’ best kept secrets.
In December 2015 parts of the walled garden and valley garden were devastated by a tidal wave which came down from the hills. A stream turned into a torrent. The walled garden is well over 200 years old and had survived everything until this, the worst flood in over 200 years. However, when I visited the gardens last August, you would not have known that there had been a problem. The gardens were looking bigger, more colourful and better than ever.
It’s not surprising really, as Anthony, the owner, will tell you that over the last 20 years these gardens had become his life’s project – his purpose in life. The feeling of much-loved gardens comes over wherever you wander. Don’t miss this beautiful, uplifting experience.
Please note that, whilst most of the garden and facilities are easily accessible, some of the garden areas are not suitable for less-abled visitors or wheelchair users due to steep inclines and gravel paths.
From here we will make our way to the lovely little town of Beaumaris. It is so pretty to walk around or simply sit by the Straits, admire the mountains on the other side – and relax!
The coach will leave Shrewsbury at approximately 9am and return to Shrewsbury 6pm-6.30pm (Exact timings will be confirmed a week before travel). The cost for the coach, early entry and coffee & cake on arrival at Plas Cadnant and visit to Beaumaris is £44.50. A non-refundable £15 deposit per person is payable when booking.
